EE was cleaning a tray of instruments used by orthopedics.
What happened
EE was cleaning instruments from a tray and she then began adjusting the stringer. After adjusting the stringer she proceeded to adjust the towel clamp. During the time she adjusted the towel clamp her left thumb was punctured. After she felt the puncture of her left thumb she went to wash her hands. EE states she spoke with a coworker - [REDACTED] about the incident. EE left her work station to go wash her hands. At the sink she removed her two sets of gloves and noticed blood on her left thumb. EE rinsed her hands with water and at the end of washing her hands the bleeding on her left thumb had stopped. EE notified her shift lead - [REDACTED] and she filled out a Self Reported Incident Survey and went to the Emergency Room. At the Emergency Room she had her post exposure labs drawn.
