Before the incident

Employee was cleaning out a plugged feed ingredient spout on the upper level of the feed mill.

What happened

When the employee stood up from cleaning the spout he did not realize his foot was under a latch that locks ingredient bin lids as he stood up with his foot under the latch he turned and twisted his right knee.

Injury or illness

Sprain to his right knee. Required physical therapy and restricted work. Employee continued performing a key role in feed manufacturing but was restricted to operating the mixing system via computer vs. physical labor in the feed mill.
