What happened
I went to his room to draw for a lactic acid. I used a butterfly needle the first time and when I saw that blood wasn 't going through the line I took the needle out and activated the safety all the way. I decided to look again and when I saw this person had a vein I could stick I used the same kind of butterfly needle again. There was still not enough blood to collect so I took the needle out and I thought I activated the safety all the way. Once I finished I collected all of my trash and used needles and was getting ready to dispose of my needles in the sharps container. All of a sudden I felt two pricks on my ring finger right hand and knew there was a chance that I was bleeding. I tried my best to not freak out in front of the pt and when I had the chance I took my gloves off and saw that I was bleeding. It wasn 't a lot it almost looked like a small blood stain. I immediately put on hand sanitizer and when I got back to the lab I washed my hands with antibacterial soap and informe
