The injury occurred when the employee’s hand was caught between a falling mold plate (estimated approx. 500-600 lbs.) and the other half of the mold while the employee was doing a mold separation to clean inside. The mold was separated widely enough using the splitter that the ejector plate pins were no longer holding the plate causing the mold plate to fall.
