29 CFR 1918.94(a)(1):  When internal combustion engines exhaust into a hold, intermediate deck, or any other compartment, the employer did not ensure that the atmosphere is tested as frequently as needed to prevent carbon monoxide (CO) concentrations from exceeding allowable limits.     a. On or about 03/16/12, at Caribbean Fantasy ferry vessel, at Pan American dock II area, Transcaribbean Maritime Corp., San Juan, PR. Employees were exposed to carbon monoxide (CO) gases form the gasoline and diesel engines of vehicles and container trucks moving cargo to vessel inner areas. The employer did not perform carbon monoxide (CO) air sampling needed to prevent concentrations for exceeding allowable limits.     NOTE 1: Transcaribbean Maritime Corp was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health standard or its equivalent standard which was contained in OSHA Inspection Number 306193384, Citation Number 1, Item Number 1, Issued on 08/08/2008, with respect to a workplace located at Cosette Vessel, Pier #16, Puerta de Tierra, San Juan, PR.     NOTE 2: Certification and documentation of abatement are not required for this citation item as abatement was documented by the compliance safety and health officer during the inspection.
