OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards when emptying waste (refuse) dumpsters (containers) using a winch and cable system on a rear loading garbage truck where the dumpster was not lowered to the ground prior to activation of the hopper blade. Employees were exposed to struck by hazards. a. 219 Branch Brook Drive, Belleville, NJ - Back lot, dumpster area Refuse collection employees performing rear-loading container (dumpster) removal practices, using a winch and cable system on a McNeilus Rear-loaded Garbage Truck, #100, (VIN 1M2K195C03M021940) did not engage both dumpster trunnion bar latches prior to lifting the container to be emptied. b. 219 Branch Brook Drive, Belleville, NJ - Back lot, dumpster area Refuse collection employees performing rear-loading container (dumpster) removal practices, using a winch and cable system on a McNeilus Rear-loaded Garbage Truck, #100, (VIN 1M2K195C03M021940) did not lower the dumpster to the ground prior to engaging the hopper blade. Violation occurred on or about February 3, 2015
