29 CFR 1915.56(b)(2): Welding cable was not free from repair or splices for a minimum distance of 10 feet from the cable end to which the electrode holder was connected. a) USS Gonzalez DD-66 Helo-Deck: On or about 06/12/2017, black electrical tape was applied over a cut in the outer jacket of a welding cable within 10 feet of the electrode holder to cover exposed copper wires, as a result an employee was potentially exposed to an electrical shock hazard. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
