29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices,electronic safety devices, etc.    a) On 2/22/2020 an employee was conducting production operations on a McKee Addison Swedger machine (Model # FM-70 RF), the employee was able to push the tube up into the crimping area of the Swedger.  Due to the point of operation area not having a guarding method such as but not limited to either barrier guards or electronic safety guards that would prevent employees from accessing the rotating parts.     Employees were exposed to a caught in hazard.    (b)   On 4/7/2020 an employee was conducting production operations on Mill #1 Turks Stand 1, the employee was on the ingoing side of the mill utilizing a scotch brite pad to clean zinc from the metal rolls being fed into the machine.  As the employee moved up and down the roll, the rollers grabbed the gloved right hand, as a result the employees right hand was pulled into the rollers.  There was no ingoing nip point guarding method such as but not limited to either barrier guards or electronic safety guards that would prevent employees from accessing the rotating parts.
