ERIE FORGE AND STEEL, INC WAS PREVIOUSLY CITED FOR A VIOLATION OF THIS OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH STANDARD, 29 CFR 1910.134(K)(3), WHICH WAS CONTAINED IN OSHA INSPECTION NUMBER 1351382 , CITATION NUMBER 1, ITEM NUMBER 1B AND WAS AFFIRMED AS A FINAL ORDER ON JANUARY 24, 2019, IN RESPECT TO A WORKPLACE LOCATED AT 1342 W 16TH STREET, ERIE, PA.  Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation.  This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement. IN ADDITION, abatement documentation shall include documents demonstrating that abatement is complete, such as evidence of the purchase or repair of equipment, photographic, or video evidence or abatement or other written records.

On or about February 2, 2020, wipe samples were obtained from lunch room tables.  A cleaning schedule for the tables had not been implemented.    Analytical results indicated the presence of toxic metals, as follows:  1.) Table left table in Boring Department: 417.3ug (micrograms) Iron, 35.1ug Nickel, 6.4ug Copper Fume, 3.0ug Manganese Fume ; and   2.) Table Welding Department: 47.0ug (micrograms) Iron, 34.7ug Nickel, 13.8ug Copper Fume, 10.6 ug Chromium.
