29 CFR  1910.138(a): The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes.   a.)  Tonnard Manufacturing Corp.; sanding department -  On or about 11/3/21,   proper gloves were not selected to protect against cut hazards.  An employee sustained an injury while wearing cotton gloves while handling parts coming off of the sander's conveyor.   ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation (see below).  This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.

Tonnard Manufacturing Corp.; sanding department -  On or about 11/3/21, and at times prior thereto, the rotating brush under the conveyor belt on the Curtis Sander was not guarded to prevent employees from contacting the moving part. Tonnard Manufacturing Corp.; sanding department -  On or about 11/3/21, and at times prior thereto, an unguarded chain was located on the Curtis Sander in the area below the conveyor belt.  The chain was 4 feet from the ground.  ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation (see below). Tonnard Manufacturing Corp.; sanding department -  On or about 11/3/21, and at times prior thereto, the expanded metal guard on the  Curtis sander had sharp edges at the bottom which created potential laceration hazards.  b.)  Tonnard Manufacturing Corp.; sanding department - On or about 12/6/21, the new expanded metal guard on the Curtis sander used to cover the entire conveyor guard had sharp edges at the bottom which created potential laceration hazards.   ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation (see below).  This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
