Located at the jobsite at 156 Kohler Street (Homesite RPP 120), Pickerington, Ohio, 43147: The employer did not ensure that employees working below vinyl siding installation being performed from a pump jack scaffold utilized head protection. Employees were thereby exposed to struck-by hazards associated with falling materials and tools from the work being performed from 19-27 feet above them.

29 CFR 1926.451(h)(2): Where there is a danger of tools, materials, or equipment falling from a scaffold and striking employees below, the following provisions apply:  29 CFR 1926.451(h)(2)(i): The area below the scaffold to which objects can fall shall be barricaded, and employees shall not be permitted to enter the hazard area.  a. Located at the jobsite at 156 Kohler Street (Homesite RPP 120), Pickerington, Ohio, 43147: The employer did not ensure that there was falling object protection in place to protect employees working below the pump jack scaffold being utilized for vinyl siding installation from being struck by falling tools or materials. Employees were thereby exposed to struck-by hazards associated with falling materials and tools from the work being performed from 19-27 feet above them.

29 CFR 1926.451(g)(1): Each employee on a scaffold more than 10 feet (3.1 m) above a lower level shall be protected from falling to that lower level. Paragraphs (g)(1)(i) through (vii) of this section establish the types of fall protection to be provided to the employees on each type of scaffold. Paragraph (g)(2) of this section addresses fall protection for scaffold erectors and dismantlers.  a. Located at the jobsite at 156 Kohler Street (Homesite RPP 120), Pickerington, Ohio, 43147: The employer did not ensure that employees working from a pump jack scaffold to install vinyl siding on a new build residential structure from heights of greater than 10 feet were protected from falls to the ground below. Employees were thereby exposed to fall hazards of 19-27 feet to the ground below.
