29 CFR 1910.133(a)(1): Protective eye and face equipment was not required where there was a reasonable probability of injury that could be prevented by such equipment: a) Double 'R' Sharpening, Washing area, on or about March 13th, 2024 and times prior thereto: Employees worked with and around corrosive chemicals including, but not limited to, Omega Chem (sodium hydroxide) hot tank detergent in order to perform saw blade cleaning operations. Employees did not utilize a face shield and/or similar eye/face protection while performing work operations with corrosive chemicals. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation (see below). This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.

29 CFR 1910.138(b): The employer did not base selection of appropriate hand protection on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the hand protection relative to the tasks to be performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and potential hazards identified: a) Double 'R' Sharpening, Wax coating area, on or about March 13th, 2024 and times prior thereto: Employees worked with and around hot wax (~300 degrees Fahrenheit) during saw blade coating operations. Employees did not utilize appropriate hand protection while working with hot wax to protect employees against thermal burns. Employees were provided and utilizing nitrile gloves while working with the hot wax. ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED: Abatement certification is required within 10 days after the abatement date noted on the citation (see below). This certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, the date abatement was completed, method of abatement, and state that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
