While an employee descended a wooden stair case, a stair tread began to give way. The employee shifted his weight to the handrail and the handrail gave way, causing the employee to fall approximately two feet to the ground. The employee landed on his back, then slid down the hill and contacted a concrete barrier. The employee was hospitalized with lower back pain.
