An employee was operating a pipe grooving machine to groove a steel pipe when his glove became caught and his hand was pulled in between the pipe and the back plate of the machine. His left middle, ring, and index fingers were partially amputated.

They were attempting to reposition the hatch when the injured employee placed his fingers under the hatch to move it.
