A rig crew was tripping rod out of a hole. When the operations were complete, the derrick man removed the screw from the clevis that supports the safety transfer to clean it. The safety transfer then slipped from his hand and hit an employee that was standing on the rig floor on the head. The employee suffered a laceration and possible concussion.
