An employee was working on a road crew that was replacing asphalt in a closed left lane when a vehicle involved in a high-speed police pursuit entered the left lane road closure area. The speeding vehicle swerved around a state police vehicle stationed at the construction site and struck another vehicle. One of the vehicles struck the employee, who suffered a punctured lung; a ruptured spleen; and lacerations to the right knee, ankle, and wrist.

An employee was working the night shift on the PA Turnpike, moving traffic signs for the blacktopping crew. The employee climbed over the jersey barrier where a bridge was demolished so he could retrieve personal items. The employee fell approximately 15 feet off the bridge onto Meetinghouse Road, fracturing the foot and ankle.

American Sign Company

An employee was struck by a pickup truck after the driver of a truck mounted attenuator struck the pickup, pushing it into the employee. The employee sustained a fractured hip, a fractured foot, and a traumatic brain injury.

H2O Innovation, Inc.

Employees were preparing to clean the eastbound lanes of a highway bridge when a vehicle swerved and struck the arrow board trailer and truck. The injured employee was then struck by the trailer and suffered a femur fracture.

Southeastern Traffic Supply, LLC

An employee and a co-worker were preparing to block off the side of a road for a utility crew. The employee was picking up traffic cones while the co-worker was towing an arrow board with a truck. A vehicle crossed two lanes of traffic and entered the work zone, striking the arrow board that was being towed. The board subsequently struck the employee, resulting in a fractured left hand, fractured ribs on the right side, and a contusion to their right forearm.

Louis-Company, LLC

Employees were putting up traffic control signs when a car stopped on the interstate. The car was then struck by a semi-truck, forcing the car into the injured employee. They sustained a shoulder fracture.

AT&T

An employee was outside a company truck, placing safety cones around it to secure a working area. Two vehicles collided on the road; one of them then went out of control and struck the employee, who suffered broken ribs, a broken orbital socket, hip and leg injuries, and a concussion.

An employee was operating a battery-powered broom to clean demolition debris off the top of the outermost bridge girder. The girder was approximately 11 feet above the demolition scaffold below. The employee fell approximately 8 feet to wind bracing below. The employee was hospitalized with a pelvis/tailbone fracture. Fall protection was in place at the time.

An employee was cleaning out an inlet pipe in a stormwater structure. The employee stepped back, fell into the pipe, and landed on concrete 13 feet below, at the bottom of the structure. He suffered a broken back.

FLATIRON CONSTRUCTION CORP.

A concrete batch plant operator was assisting with clearing spoil piles using a skid steer. The skid steer backed into a stationary screen plant. The employee's left little finger was crushed between the controls of the skid steer and the screen plant, resulting in a fracture and laceration. The employee's finger was surgically amputated.

Warner Brothers, LLC

An employee was operating a roller and paving a small pathway next to a pavilion. The ground was on a slight pitch, causing him to reach up toward the roll cage to stabilize himself. His right fifth finger was pinched between the roll cage and the rafter of the pavilion. The employee sustained a partial degloving injury with partial traumatic amputation.

Don Martin Corporation

An employee was working with paving equipment and heard a noise on the opposite side of the machine he was working on. When the machine stopped, the employee went to the opposite side and crouched down to investigate the noise. A mini track loader backed up and drove over the employee's leg. The employee sustained fractures to their lower leg, ankle, and foot.

An employee was walking into the motor control center (MCC) room when his right ring finger was caught in the hinge of a doorway. He sustained an open phalanx fracture, which resulted in a partial amputation above the first knuckle.

Zimmerman & Herr

An employee was changing the spacing on a telehandler's forks. A fork slipped, and the employee's left index finger was caught between it and the mast. The fingertip was medically amputated at the first knuckle.

McAneny Brothers, Inc.

An employee was pulling down a broken skid with a forklift. When the employee backed up the forklift to get the forks out of the skid he pulled down, he contacted the forks of another parked forklift, fracturing both of his legs. He was hospitalized.

Metz Culinary Management LLC

An employee was carrying cups back to the kitchen when her foot got caught on a cart and she fell face-first. During the fall, a piece of glass from a cup cut the inside of her mouth, severing an artery. She also sustained a laceration on her lower lip. The employee was hospitalized.
