An employee was removing a stay rod nut using a hydraulic pump. He was holding the torque tool with his right hand while removing the nut with his left hand. The hydraulic pump kicked on without the operation control being pressed and pinched his right middle finger between the stay rod and the grease pan. The employee s right middle fingertip was amputated.
