The employee had removed a side cover from the unit to add water when the fan on top of the unit turned on and pulled in his right hand. When the weight is off the shell, cranes move north or south to position the cooker inside the shell. The cooker shaft suddenly moved and his right middle finger was caught between the cooker shell and a gauge block. The finger was amputated to the bottom of the fingernail.
