Final narrative
On July 30, 2021, at 12:15 p.m., an employee was inflating a farm tire to the required 30 psi while it was in a tire cage. The tire pressure rose to approximately 20 psi when the tire exploded and the force of the explosion shifted the cage. A portion of the tire struck the employee in the legs as the cage moved, resulting in a fractured right tibia and a ruptured tendon in the left leg. The employee was hospitalized.
A tire technician was changing the tires on a forklift when their left hand was caught between the turning table and the tires. The technician's left hand sustained four broken fingers and two torn tendons.
