An employee had been pulling products at a packing station. While trying to retrieve a pad that had fallen onto the serpentine belt, the feed shelf cycled, which engaged the serpentine belt and the employee's right hand was caught between the belt and gear mechanism. The employee's right index finger was amputated to the first joint. A guard was in place at the time.
