General Cable

An employee was working at a wrapper on a recoiler, wrapping a coil with plastic. A pigtail became caught on a pipe; while an employee was pushing it back into a working position, the machine engaged and its rotating bearing hit the employee's left hand. The employee suffered partial amputations to the middle and ring fingers. The machine was unguarded at the time.

An employee was moving reels in a machine. The employee unloaded a full reel from the machine and was rotating an empty reel to be loaded. The employee's left hand was caught between the full reel and the empty one, causing the amputation of the index, middle, and ring fingertips.

An employee was inspecting bad cable at a take-up reel. The employee's left hand was caught between the cable and the reel, causing the amputation of the tip of the little finger.

An employee was adjusting a piece of locked out pay off equipment when the arm of the equipment sprang back and struck him in the chest resulting in fractured ribs (5) and the right shoulder.

An employee was about to weld a piece of cable from the east side cable to the west side cable. The west side was already clamped off and the employee was putting the east side into the clamp on the cable welder. As he was lowering the guard, the clamp guard actuated catching his right middle finger in the clamp and amputating the fingertip.

An employee was operating a machine when a wire pulled his right glove resulting in amputation of the index and middle fingertips.

An employee was grinding chicken when their right index fingertip was caught in the grinder and amputated.

An employee was sharpening peeler blades when their shirt was caught in the grinding wheel. The employee sustained tendon damage and a crushed right hand.

An employee was passing through a large metal door when the door closed on the employee, resulting in a cracked rib.

An employee was preparing to cut lumber on a panel saw when the clamp engaged and caught the employee's left middle finger, resulting in a fingertip amputation.

At 5:40 p.m. on August 28, 2025, an employee was traversing cable onto a reel when the line sped up. The cable caught his glove and pulled his left ring finger onto the spool, causing a partial amputation to the finger.

At 3:45 p.m. on June 30, 2025, an employee was working out of a bucket truck, installing a fiber drop to a customer. The door of the bucket came open and he fell to the ground 12-15 feet below, suffering a brain bleed, facial factures, four fractured ribs, a possible collapsed lung, possible fractured vertebrae, and possible wrist and ankle fractures.

An employee dismounted from a truck trailer, and the employee's left ring finger struck a trailer tire. The employee's wedding ring was caught, and the employee suffered a partial amputation to the finger after the middle knuckle.

An employee was cleaning the gear pump in the front of the compound mixing machine when his left hand was caught in the turning gears causing an amputation to his left index finger below the fingernail at the distal phalange.

An employee was conducting maintenance work underneath a vehicle with the two front tires on the ramp. The van rolled off the ramp and crushed the employee's ribs and lungs.

After cutting a slab of beef short ribs, an employee turned to grab the pieces he had cut and his right hand contacted the saw blade. The employee sustained an amputation to his right index finger.

An employee was unloading a carpet pad from a truck when they fell from the truck dock to the concrete below, resulting in five fractured ribs and an injury to their left lung.

An employee was inspecting flares processes. The employee received burns to the front side of the body, face and arm from the flares.

An employee was removing plastic material from a production line when the machine cycled and amputated his left index, ring, and little fingers.

An employee was walking up a walkway to enter a building through the back entrance when she tripped over the lip of the cement ramp. The employee fell and sustained a fractured right hip.
