Employees were installing a 50-foot-wide rubber door at a steel plant. When setting a steel idler barrel (weighing approximately 2,000 pounds) into position using a crane, the barrel got caught on a piece of metal. The injured employee pushed the barrel and it swung down, crushing his thumb in a pinch point. The employee's thumb was partially amputated.
An employee was walking into the motor control center (MCC) room when his right ring finger was caught in the hinge of a doorway. He sustained an open phalanx fracture, which resulted in a partial amputation above the first knuckle.
