Magnetism caused the two shafts to come together quickly and crush the employee's right middle fingertip. The employee suffered a degloving/amputation from the top of the fingernail.

The employee was trying to determine belt tension when the tip of their right index finger was caught between the gear and the belt of the conveyor motor. The fingertip was amputated.
