29 CFR 1910.212(a)(4): Barrels, containers, and drums. Revolving drums, barrels, and containers shall be guarded by an enclosure which is interlocked with the drive mechanism, so that the barrel, drum, or container cannot revolve unless the guard enclosure is in place.  a. On or about February 24, 2016, employees were required to operate a Rotary / In-line Filling Machine, Pneumatic Scale, Phneumaflow, 20 Head Rotary Filler, Serial number 23585, on a daily basis.  The employer failed to ensure the revolving drum associated with the filling nozzles of the Phneumaflow machine were adequately quarded with an Inter-locking device that could not be removed / by-passed by the operator.  Employees where thereby exposed to amputation / caught-in hazards associated with revolving drums.  Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
