29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: Seed Dept.: 1) The swing arms of the Hollar Machines that transfer packs and drops them were not guarded. 2) The #2 Hollar Machine had a guard open ezposing moving parts and pinchpoints. 3) The #1 Hollar Machine had a cover open exposing cam pinchpoints. 4) The rotary table of the #12 Haller Machine was not adequately guarded. 5) The side cover of Haller Machine #15 was open exposing moving parts. 6) The Haller 31 machine had covers off exposing employees to pinchpoints and moving parts. 7) A guard for the Haller #24 Machine was on the floor exposing employees to cams and swinging arms. 8) The Haller 17 Seed Machine had one guard missing exposing employees to moving parts. 9) One cover of the Bartell 3 Machine was down exposing employees to a moving conveyor. Dirt Dept.: 1) Chain conveyor and sprocket wheel pinchpoints of the 2 oz. boxer machine were not guarded. 2) The side guards of the thermoformer machine were not in place. The exit side of the thermoformer was not guarded. The Plantation Products Incorporated was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1177966, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on March 13, 2017, with respect to a workplace located at 202 South Washington Street, Norton, Massachusetts 02766.
