An employee was operating a laser cutting machine in the laser shop. He was removing a piece of scrap sheet metal and placing it into the scrap/recycling bin when it hit the side of the bin and fell over the side, outside of the bin. While retrieving it, his right hand got caught on the edge of the scrap bin. The sheet metal piece fell to the floor and the rest of the sheet metal from the machine fell on his arm. The employee was hospitalized with a fractured arm and required surgery.
