At the end of their shift, a shuttle lift (gantry crane) operator was descending the shuttle lift via the equipment ladder. While stepping from the third to last rung, the employee missed their footing and fell approximately 3 feet onto metal plates, landing in a sitting position. The employee sustained a fractured lumbar vertebra.
