As he pulled on it, the belt started to turn faster than the employee expected and his left little finger was caught between the high-tension belt and the pulley on the motor. He pulled his hand out of the pinch point, which caused his finger to scrape against the edge of the pulley. The employee sustained a severe laceration and amputation to his left little finger.
