Safety Incidents

On August 31, 2025, an employee was using a paper towel to wipe down the surface around the perimeter of the fryer. She sneezed and her right arm slipped into the fryer oil. She was hospitalized with burns to her right arm and wrist.

An employee was preparing an oven for charging and cracked the seal of the jump lid to release pressure. Flames unexpectedly released from the oven and burned the employee's right ring and little fingers. The employee sustained second-degree burns.

At approximately 8:20 AM, a hose on the discharge line on a dehydrator unhooked and triethylene glycol sprayed the owner and two technicians. The chemical was approximately 300+ degrees. Another technician manually closed the valve. One employee was treated for second-degree burns to the left arm and left calf and was released. The employee who was closest to the unit was sprayed on the left arm, wrist, and leg, and sustained third-degree burns. He was hospitalized.

Two employees were changing fuses for a fryer. The pump on the fryer was turned off, but the heat exchanger kept running. When the pump was turned back on, hot oil shot toward the filter. The filter box opened and sprayed the two injured employees with hot grease. The employees suffered burns to their backs, shoulders, and arms.

An employee was moving three stacked bins with a pallet jack in the centering room. While turning, the bins struck a wall-mounted control panel, causing an unopened kettle behind the employee to open. Heated bone broth was released. The employee went to close the kettle and came in contact with the hot broth (approximately 200 degrees) resulting in second-degree burns to their legs.
