What happened

The material at rack [REDACTED] which was 21 feet long was being retrieved by the cutter. The employee noticed the parts were wrapped in a bundle when the end cap was removed from the cardboard tube package. When wrapped in a bundle the parts are too heavy to pull out of the tube. As a result the employee cut through the cardboard tube to separate the bundle and retrieve only one. The employee held a utility blade with the right hand while using the left hand to hold the cardboard tube. The blade slipped and punctured his left thumb.
