Federal OSHA recorded a severe workplace injury at Textron Aviation, 5800 E. Pawnee, WICHITA, KANSAS 67218 on — Fractures, affecting the neck, except internal location of diseases or disorders.

An employee was working to remove product from an 800-ton skin stretch. The employee lost his footing and fell approximately 15 feet from a platform into a safety net in the pit under the stretch operating area. The employee sustained a fracture to the C-7 vertebra.

An employee was on a step ladder to measure and mark a crane rail for modification. The employee fell approximately 12 to 15 feet to the ground, resulting in a fractured right hip.

An employee was on a trailer securing a load of logs when they fell approximately 9-12 feet to the ground. The employee sustained brain hemorrhaging and lacerations to the thigh and above the eye. The employee was hospitalized.

A pressurized aircraft nose landing gear strut assembly was being disassembled. The gland nut dislodged under pressure and made contact with an employee's left hand, breaking it.

A metal tooling base was being moved by a forklift when the load shifted. An employee who was assisting went to stabilize the load and prevent it from sliding off the forks. The C-channel of the base crushed the employee's left hand against the concrete ground, resulting in the amputation of their third and fourth fingers.

An employee was climbing a ladder to get on top of the breakroom. The ladder slipped, causing him to fall to the ground. The employee sustained fractures to his upper back, left foot, and ankle.

Two employees were removing a circuit breaker. The injured employee was using wrenches in the removal process. One of the wrenches contacted an adjacent door, resulting in an arc flash. The employee suffered burns to their neck, face, and ear, as well as momentary vision loss due to the flash.
